A UNIQUE CONCEPT
WITH MANY ADVANTAGES

The semi-hollow design of the tyres fitted to FARMFLEX rubber rollers causes continuous deformation upon contact with the ground. Combined with the flexibility and responsiveness of natural rubber, this dynamic allows soil and debris to be gradually expelled whilst working in the field.

This expulsion process is commonly referred to as ‘self-cleaning’, and ensures consistent performance even in wet or sticky soil conditions.

These rubber compounds have been specially developed by OTICO to meet the demands of the agricultural sector. Their composition ensures high resistance to damage caused by impacts from stones and pebbles, as well as to UV rays and light. These materials guarantee puncture-free, maintenance-free operation and optimum durability in the most challenging conditions.

The shock-absorbing properties of the rubber used in OTICO rollers enable them to effectively absorb shocks and vibrations. This shock-absorbing capability significantly reduces the stresses placed on the bearings, the roller frame and, more broadly, the entire machine. The result is improved component durability, thereby extending the machine’s service life.

The OTICO range comprises a wide selection of rollers with a variety of specifications (shapes, diameters, tyre profiles), enabling it to meet specific agronomic requirements precisely: surface or deep consolidation, soil crumbling, etc. Each configuration is designed to optimise efficiency in the field and adapt to different types of farming practices.

On light or sandy soils: the large contact area with the ground provides excellent traction, thereby reducing the pulling force required.

On clay soils and in wet conditions: the flexibility of the rubber on FARMFLEX® rollers improves the removal of sticky soil, ensuring particularly effective self-cleaning.

In compacted soils: the deep ruts left in the ground by the roller treads significantly reduce compaction and erosion, helping to better preserve soil structure.

The enclosed roller design prevents any build-up of soil, stones or crop residues inside the roller, ensuring optimal performance even under these working conditions.

OTICO rollers are compatible with all the machinery on your farm, including: rotary harrows, cultivators, pre-planting rollers and tine seed drills, and more. An essential tool for effectively equipping all your set-ups.

ROLLING & CONSOLIDATION

Rolling carried out at the correct depth promotes excellent seed-to-soil contact, which is essential for retaining the moisture needed for successful germination.

It also allows water to rise by capillary action from deeper in the soil to the seedbed, i.e. the area where the seeds are placed during sowing.

Localised rolling at the sowing depth helps to keep coarser material (clods) on the surface. These protect the surface from the impact of rainfall, thereby reducing the risk of soil compaction.

FURROW-STYLE COMPACTION

Furrow-style compaction allows water to drain properly into the soil, thereby preventing surface runoff and the loss of usable water.

It also helps to protect the soil against wind erosion, particularly in windy regions, by retaining structural elements on the surface and limiting the removal of fine particles.

DEPTH CONTROL

The roller ensures precise and consistent control of the working depth, thereby guaranteeing a uniform seedbed.

SOIL COMPACTION

Thanks to its profile and the pressure it exerts, the roller compacts the soil, ensuring optimal seed-to-soil contact for even germination. It also promotes faster and deeper root development

LEVELLING

The levelling provided by the roller makes it easier for the seed drill to pass over the ground and allows for faster sowing. It also makes harvesting easier for certain crops (e.g. peas) and optimises the effectiveness of crop protection treatments thanks to a more even surface.

A DESIGN THAT HAS BEEN TRIED AND TESTED FOR 30 YEARS

OTICO rollers have been in development for nearly 30 years and are now highly regarded for their reliability, particularly in the design and assembly of components, especially tyres.
